This is called the Application Interface because it determines how the application will interface with your operating system.

Close to tray means when you close the application by pressing the'X'on the title bar it will simply hide itself and it's icon will appear in the system tray. To restore the application, simply click it's icon in the tray.
Minimize to tray means when you minimize the application by pressing the'-'on the title bar it will simply hide itself and it's icon will appear in the system tray. To restore the application, simply click it's icon in the tray.
If the application is running in the system tray and the "Use Password" check box is checked, you will be challenged to enter the password you have set.
If the "Start Application With Windows" check box is checked, the application will started automatically when windows starts.
